Make a square logo image in the GBP Image Generator, then upload it from Search or Maps. The generator does not add the photo to the profile for you.
The Profile Photo option is labeled Square · 1:1. Pick a logo idea, or drop a real logo in the optional reference image. A generated storefront or team portrait should not replace a real photo.
Google says profile photos should represent reality and avoid excessive AI. Read the photo guidelines before you replace a real storefront shot with a generated one. If you also need a post graphic, make a separate GBP Post picture instead of cropping this square, then write the caption with the GMB post AI tool.
If a stranger saw only the circle or square, they should still recognize the business.
Logo
Clean logo on brand colour
A logo idea works best when the logo is the mark customers already know.
Place
Welcoming storefront exterior
Only use this idea if you also drop a real storefront photo in the optional reference image, or skip AI and upload the real photo in Google Business Profile.
People
Friendly team or owner portrait
Do not invent faces. Drop a real team or owner photo in the optional reference image, or upload the real photo in Google Business Profile.
Here’s how to use it.
Open GMB Everywhere AI Tools and find the card titled GBP Image Generator. It says it creates on-brand images for your profile, Google Posts and social. Click Generate Images.
You’ll land on GBP Image Generator. Under Find your business, start typing your business name and pick the listing. Under Where will you use it? choose Profile Photo (Square · 1:1). The four options are GBP Post (Landscape · 4:3), Profile Photo (Square · 1:1), Facebook / Instagram Post (Square · 1:1), and Instagram Story / Reel (Vertical · 9:16). There is no 16:9 option.
After you pick a business, that list becomes 3 ideas suggested for the listing. Pick the one closest to what you need, or choose Custom — write your own. The names below are examples of the defaults, not a promise you will see those exact lines. Prefer a logo idea, or your real photo. Do not use a generated storefront or team portrait in place of a real one. A reference image and the optional Custom prompt are separate fields. Then click Generate image.
What the tool does not do
It does not upload the image to Google Business Profile, Instagram, or Facebook. Download it, take a look, then add it yourself. Keep the picture honest, and do not invent a shop, team, or offer you do not have.
The generator only makes the picture. Google’s photo help says you add a logo or cover from Search or Maps after you search for your business.
For a storefront or team shot, upload a real photo. Use the logo idea, or drop your real logo in the optional reference image, if you want an AI layout around a mark people already know.
Pick the right listing so the ideas match the profile you mean. Upload the file in Google Business Profile yourself. For a matching feed post later, make a second square picture, and you can share a GBP post on Facebook and Instagram when the caption should stay in sync.
What people try first
What actually helps
Will the tool change my live profile photo?
No. You download the picture and upload it in Google Business Profile.
Can I use a sale graphic as the profile photo?
The tool treats profile photos as identity images, not promotions. Use GBP Post for offers.
What file types does Google want?
Google lists JPG or PNG, 10 KB to 5 MB, and a recommended 720 by 720 pixels.
